THANK YOU CHERYL!!!

You're probably thinking what the title of this post is about so I'll explain.
Cheryl left me a comment about the Arctic Monkeys and asked if listened to them. I didn't so I figured I'd give them a try. They're pretty good! I then went on a search for a their concert and they were playing at the Hammerstein Ballroom yesterday - of course their show was sold out but I decided to keep searching for tickets. I won 2 on Ebay, the concert was GA but you were assigned to a floor (it's 3 floors) and lucky us we were on the floor. They put on a awesome show!!! They are now on my MUST SEE EVERYTIME list LOL. I went with my cousin Jorge and I have to thank him too because 1. He HATES GA and 2.People were pushing and where as I like it - he HATES it. I couldn't bring my camera so I don't have any "live" footage and what I took with my phone just sucks but I do have some blurry pictures to share :-) Note to self: Next time they say No Cameras bring yours anyway!
I'm off for now - I'm going to see The Phantom of the Opera with my mom and cousin. I've been doing a lot on my vacation and I'm going to hate going back to work next week. I think tomorrow we're going to a baseball game, it's not a definite plan so I won't count on it. I'll try to post a progress picture of Summer Snapperland too - I'm so happy I stitched this piece because it's looking so pretty, I think it's the change of fabric - the suggested one was just too dark! TTYL!

Three Down...

One more to go!

This square is called Whalehouse and the whale on top of the house is suppose to have a little smile and an eye but I think I'm going to leave it out, I mean the people don't have faces so why should a whale? Plus I don't want it to look too cutesy ya know? Well I'm going to start working on the border around it. TTFN!

What can happen...

...will happen. Anyone want to join me for a pity party?

I was watching TV when I heard a loud thud, I go check my mom to make sure she's ok since she was cleaning and she was. So I ask her what was that noise and she points to the folding table in the other room - it fell. I go to pick it up and see that the iron tipped over. Well can you guess what happens next? I didn't know that my mother used the iron minutes to go and when I go to pick it up (by the hot side) I burn my fingers!!!

Obviously it's not that bad since I'm blogging but they just feel weird (hard) and I can't stitch as fast but it could have been worse. On to other things!

The Ballet was very nice! It would have helped if I knew the story of Romeo and Juliet. I know you're thinking who doesn't know the story of Romeo and Juliet?!?! But I know the story, I just don't know about the supporting characters. After reading the Playbill I was on board. My cousins made me laugh when they told me they didn't know that there was no talking. My response to them - "It's a ballet not a play!" LOL I think I'd go to see another one.

Tonight I'm going to watch TV until it's time to go to Starbucks. I can't wait to see The Office but will have to since my Tivo feels it's more important to record Grey's instead of The Office, tonight I think Pam tells Jim how she feels about him...tomorrow I'll find out when I buy it on iTunes. If My Name is Earl wasn't 40 minutes long I think I wouldn't have this problem *sigh* TTFN I'm off to watch TV!

Four Days Later...

Won't be stitching much today so I thought I'd share an update so I atleast feel like I'm doing something that involves my stitching. I stitched the 1st square at my cross stitch meet yesterday and just stitch the boxes at Starbucks last night when I went to study with my cousin, well he studies and I stitch.

I picked up Delivering Fluers from the framers yesterday. I don't know how I feel about the frame. The frame itself is nice and outside when I was taking the picture looked nice but it doesn't look the same inside...could just be me.

Tonight I'm going to the ballet to see Romeo and Juliet. This is a first for me so I'm excited. I read on the website that you can dress in whatever you want which is great, thanks to TV I thought you had to dress up.

Well that's it from me - my vacation feels like it's moving too fast and I think it's stressing me out more than relaxing me. I'm going to get my hair washed which is something I hate to do only because I don't feel like sitting under the dryer doing nothing for an hour. I've tried to stitch but SS is too big to pull out and stitch on. *Good Idea Alert* Maybe I should kit up a small project to bring! LOL I won't but that was a good idea. TTFN

A Mini Finish!

I just finished the 2nd square to my Summer Snapperland. I don't like this season but I think it's going to look very nice. So far I like the way the sea goes from one square to the other one. I know Spring is like this with the soil but I'll have to check if Winter is also. I'm going to work on the border before moving onto another square. I already know that I'm leaving the 4th square for last simply because I get very anxious with stitching a large space with just one color, the only thing that doesn't discourage me is that it's in blue and not white...I just can't stitch in white my stitches look sloppy.
We had a new visitor today, my sister came over with the kids and their new puppy "Precious." I hate the name btw, but it's not my dog so it shouldn't matter. Ana was excited about her, she loves puppies but Precious wanted nothing to do with Ana. I guess with her being so little and Ana towering over her she got scared. I couldn't get a picture of the two of them together but did manage to get one of her "hiding." I doubt they'll be friends in the future because Precious already has little dog qualities ie. she hates other dogs. Well with that being said I also have another addition to tell about!

I'm....the new owner of another pair of scissors!!! LOL I'm so corny sometimes. I bought the Maria's and while I haven't used them yet I did have a perfect fob for them. The picture shows them with my Jamie's which were "eh" to me until I put a fob on them and all of sudden they're beautiful like the rest of them :-)

Well that's all from me today...Thanks for the comments on my concert post!!! I'm going to a "fight" party tonight (I hope De La Hoya wins!)and once the fight is over it turns into a "poker" party. I really hate to play poker with these people...some are just way too cocky and competitive for me and let's not mention the comments that are made *ugh* I mean seriously IT'S JUST A GAME but they're my family (LOL) so I have to put up with it...in the long run they aren't that bad. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, it's beautiful here, well maybe a little too hot for me but atleast it's not raining like in some places.

Wondeful Weekend! No Stitchy news though...

Wow what a way to spend the pre-vacation days. Usually a few days before I go on vacation physically my mind decides it wants to go early and it does, to please it I've been going to concerts on my off days (which really were only 2 days off so 2 concerts)

The Killers on Saturday were awesome. I didn't get any good footage of the camera - my cousin had one too many and I was about 3 steps behind him LOL. I feel bad for my "sober" cousin who had to take care of us until the fresh air hit me, then it was us taking care of him. I do have Sam's Town but the file is too big to upload...anyone know of another place besides You Tube that I can use?

Here are 2 videos...sorry about the quality
The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It

The Killers - Bones

Anyway the opening to the concert was great. One of the opening bands were these guys from Japan and they played all Beatles songs. The "older" people in the crowd (myself included) really enjoyed it. It was too dark to film it but the opening to The Killers was NICE!!! They had this white sheer curtain type thing where pictures from Sam's Town flashed on sort of like when the TV goes out and gets fuzzy and then once in a while confetti would get blown out cannonball style, we had crappy seats (I can never get good seats for The Killers) but we still had a good view and like I said the concert was GREAT! My cousin has a gift with making best friends with strangers so we made some new friends that night. Going to work the next night was hard, by 11pm I was almost passed out in my chair THANKFULLY it was a very night, it was so quiet that everyone was complaining how quiet it was - it was like we were waiting for something to happen that's how quiet it was.

Modest Mouse was last night, only 2 of us went since my other cousins really don't like them like my other cousin and I. Sometimes having a girls night out with it being just the 2 of us is nice. She's more like me, so we tend to have a good time whenever we hang. The seats were nice, we weren't able to go up front like at the Bloc Party concert (it was held at the same venue) but the security guard that was with us was really nice. He was like ok guys I move up and you move up and no one will ever know. The show wasn't as great as the first one we went to last year (I really think it was the seats - last time we were up front) but still nice - we danced in the aisle with the rest of the MM Fans.

Here's some MM:
Modest Mouse - Dashboard

Modest Mouse - Bury Me With It

Modest Mouse - Bukowski

I think I'm addicted to going to concerts...I was going to put myself on a concert diet but after this weekend I've decided not to. It's something I enjoy and what's life if you don't enjoy it right? Our next concert is May 18th and we're going to see Talib Kweli, then The Bravery, then The Fray, and then O.A.R. and whatever else we find in between or after :-) I'm still trying to decide if I want to go to Jersey to go see Bloc Party...I really do love them but don't know how far Asbury Park. Oh and I'm also going to the ballet on the 9th to see Romeo and Juliet :-)
Anyone know how one dresses for that?

Well I work tonight so I'm going to take a nap - my throat hurts and I hope I'm not getting sick but I'll be on vacation soon so although it doesn't matter I really don't want to spend it sick.

Happy Birthday Ana!

So I'm one of those weird pet parents that throws parties for their furbabies and since Ana turned 5 on the 24th and I worked that day I decided to throw her a party today! I don't think she knew what was going on - at first I can tell she did not appreciate any of the preperations since it included getting a bath and brushing her teeth, but she did enjoy the "party" part. She had 6 guests (mainly my cousins) and lots of belly rubs. I bought her a cake (mainly for us LOL) and I'm thinking that maybe next year I'll go to the doggie bakery and get her one made and maybe invite Kyle to celebrate, since as he's gotten older he's less animal and more calm. Here are a few pictures of her party...just to let you know she's not actually allowed to sit on the dining room chairs. I just put her there to take a picture of her with the cake - if you knew Ana then you'd know she has her scared face on and is probably afraid my mother is going to come downstairs any second LOL.

Summer Snapperland Update!

I finished one of my squares *yea*
Here's a picture...
I have plans for today. Ana's birthday was on the 24th so I'm cutting her a cake! (Yes I'm one of those weird pet parents, thank you very much!) I also have to buy some jeans for my concert on Saturday, I don't know what happened but it's like all of my jeans disappeared. Well I'm off, I'm going to try and stitch some more tonight. I work tomorrow so if I don't stitch tonight I probably won't stitch until I'm on vacation (just 4 more work days!!!) TTFN

Hola!

Here's an update on Summer Snapperland...not much really, just another square. Maybe tomorrow I'll get more done. The stitching that goes inside the square doesn't seem to be much so maybe this will go fast. You can see the color of the fabric a little better in this picture, this is the first time I've changed fabric color without getting a second opinion (ie Kelly) so I'm a bit nervous as to how this will come out. So far I like how the grey (GAST Barn Grey) looks on it so let's keep our fingers crossed.

I'm off this weekend, which is great because the weather is nice. I haven't enjoyed it yet since this morning I went to get my hair done and then came back home to bum around, but just the fact that it's nice outside and I don't have to be at work is great.
Talking about work...I think I like it LOL. I had this patient that is a #1 PIA but really I noticed he just wanted company, after spending time with him, making him laugh and combing his hair he stopped ringing the call light every 2 seconds. Another one was certified crazy the night before (like we need a psych consult on her at 2am) but same thing - wanted someone to sit with her and talk. Thankfully I had time last night to do this because if I didn't I'd hate to imagine how'd they behave.

Wanted to ask for a favor from my blog readers. I have a co-worker (funniest, kindest, and anything else nice you can think of type of nurse) that has lost the battle against the big "C." I just wanted to ask to keep her in your thoughts. I saw her today and while she's unresponsive she did look comfortable and I'd love for her to go that way. Her family is at her bedside and everything was taken cared of before she became unresponsive, I feel bad that I didn't go see her last week when she was still around. I honestly thought that she'd be here longer, goes to show you that nothing is ever promised and that things change from one day to the next. Anyhoo, please think of her and her family, maybe say a little prayer if you pray.

And btw - thanks for the comments on my last finish, you wouldn't believe how much I appreciate them! TTFN

A finish :)

My stitching date was today and it was really nice! I was able to finish Bluebird Message while there and now I can't wait to pick it up once it's framed.
Now onto my new project...Summer Snapperland. I love my fabric so far, I just hope it looks nice once I'm done.
Well tomorrow is a work day and I have to wake up early to drop off the rental car and run some other errands plus I'm dead tired! TTYL

Update Time :)

I've been up since 6am so I may be back on a somewhat normal sleep schedule for the next 3 days that I'm off *yea* I work tonight so actually we'll see about it, but since it's only one night I may be able to be normal for a while. That first night that I was off I slept all day for 12 hours straight and stayed up from 11pm until yesterday at 9pm. Anyway I woke up this morning and started stitching right away and I can see that light at the end of the tunnel again :-) Once I finish the end branch and the eyelets I can move on to another project because I'll stitch the border on the train to work or at work. It's mindless so it should go quick. *fingers crossed* I'm dying to get back to Dollhouse after seeing Cheryl's progress and I need to stitch Summer Snapperland and hopefully get it done before the summer is over and let's not mention the 2 Elizabeth Design's that I have kitted up waiting for me also LOL. Well I just wanted to share this picture and now I will go back to stitching until it's time for me to nap (I need lots of sleep it seems...) TTFN!

I'm in Heaven!

Bloc Party Heaven :-)

I just found 9 songs that are new to me - that's like an entire album!

I'm off to stitch. I'm finally off from work for 2 consecutive days! Not a big thing to celebrate, but I just worked 5 days with only 1 day to rest in between. Not hard when you work an 8hr shift but a 12hr shift, IMO, is another story. I'm on vacation for 2 weeks in May so I'm counting the days :-)

I'm so confused...

It's April shouldn't it be a bit warmer? I'm walking around with a sweater in my house and the heat comes on once in a while. I would complain about the rain but that's expected of April so atleast that's one thing that's right. Ana is curled up and covered - she gets hot really easily so I know it's cold. Her tiny blanket is the cutest, IMO. I bought it at Petco a while ago. I swear you could sell me anything that had the word "doggie" in it. She's lucky she doesn't have long hair or is a tiny dog because then I'd be able to get her a tiny tiara and little clothes LOL.

Last night we watched The Good Shepherd on DVD - good movie but I think I'm still confused. I was stitching during the movie so I could blame it on that, but Kelly gave it his undivided attention and was a bit confused also so I know it's not that. ********SPOILER ALERT************Did Matt Damon's character have something to do with killing his son's bride to be or what?

I put a real dent into Bluebird Message last night - it's like I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel but then I looked at the chart and saw that I'm like only half done and the light went out LOL. I go back to work tomorrow (was off for a while) so my stitching time will be reduced. I've already decided that I'll stitch the border on the train - it's not something I have to really concentrate on.

Something I just have to say - I love my new phone! I have the Treo 700wx and it's just like "OMG How did I live without this??" If I could play Sims on it I would have no need for my laptop LOL. I still have my Nextel until the end of the month but I don't use it anymore...I sort of miss my Direct Connect it was much quicker when I wanted to tell my cousin to come outside instead of waiting for the phone to ring and him picking up, but since he switched over too there's no one to DC.
TTYL!

Sunday, April 01, 2007

I thought I'd have some stitchy news to blog about but I don't. I woke up and said I would spend the entire day stitching but then looked around and decided to clean. Once that got done my cousin was next door with the "new" baby so I went to go see her. Then I decided I wanted to start something new, so instead of going through the closet for my DMC threads I went out and bought some new floss. Then I got on this computer and the rest my dear is history! I did have plans on starting Summer Snapperland tonight but I pulled out Bluebird Message and the colors are so beautiful that I think I want to keep on stitching on it. Here's an update pic.

Bloc Party was on Friday and it was AWESOME! It was held at The United Palace Theater which turned out to be a church known as The United Church. Kele invited everyone to the front and since we weren't too far from the front my cousin and I(left my other cousins) and went to the front. It was a really great concert - even the opening bands were good. The beer was expensive, even when you compared it to MSG, if you can imagine! Our Modest Mouse concert is at the same venue and I already scoped out our seats (which aren't bad) and if they also invite to the front well my cousin and I will definitely be there. Of course I have pics to share...so enjoy!

Here's some video...
Hunting For Witches

Positive Tension

and a snippet of the end of a song they played

I also have another slide show to share with you...everytime I go to this train station I stare at these little people in awe...they always make me smile so I thought since I had the camera on me I'd take secret (because it's illegal to take pics in the train station/train) for my personal picture collection. I only got a picture of four of them but there are more of them throughout the entire station.

Random Thought Coming...

So babies wake up atleast 3 times a night and/or every 3 hours as per my cousin. My biggest fear of having kids is that I'll sleep through them crying at night and now I have to worry about not sleeping at all. I'm afraid of getting married, something about it being definite and "where do we/is there to go from here" about it that frightens me and always thought I'd have a kid before I would ever get married but now I'm not too sure...I love to sleep! LOL I know I hung out with my other cousin this weekend who has a 6 and 4 year old and her 4 year old was alseep by 2am and up by 6:30am and she went to bed at 5am so when does she sleep?!?! She didn't look tired the next day so maybe you get use to not sleeping. I've been trying to re-connect with some old high school friends and most of them have kids, I feel like I'm behind but after this sleep issue I think I'm ok with that. I guess it's all worth it at the end of the day...mostly everything is, right?

Bloc Party...a bit boring maybe

If it can be broke then it can be fixed
If it can be fused then it can be split
It's all under control
If it can be lost then it can be won
If it can be touched then it can be turned
All you need is time

We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?

A sense of purpose and a sense of skill
A sense of function but a disregard
We will not be the first, we won't
You said you were going to conquer new frontiers,
Go stick your bloody head in the jaws of the beast

If I've said this once I've said it a million times...I love Bloc Party and when I'm happy I listen to Bloc Party, when I'm sad I listen to Bloc Party, when I'm upset I listen to Bloc Party, when I'm eh...well you get the picture. They play in NYC this weekend, well next weekend and I'm going to see them...I can't wait - I love them LOL. I woke up early to get these tickets and this morning I woke up early again to get tickets to see The Bravery and Modest Mouse (this is another fav of mine.) I love concerts - the live music just makes me want to do the cockaroach dance LOL. (I'm so corny)

Onto non Bloc Party/concert news...I'm still sick. I have this cough that just won't budge and it's not a nice "I have a tickle in my throat" cough it's a hacking "OMG what does this girl have and is it contagious?" type cough. I had this patient the last 2 days who had the same cough (only worse) and everytime my patient coughed I'd cough right with him. Then it's hard for me to breath - it just feels like my lungs aren't expanding to full capacity. My dad has been smoking around me my entire life (then I smoked for a few years myself thinking it was cool) so who knows what shape my lungs are in. The doctor doesn't seem to be too worried but he's not the one who can't breath. I keep saying I'm going to find a new doctor but when your doctor is 2 blocks away from you it's hard leave.

I finally broke down and decided to leave Nextel. The service since the merge with Sprint is just horrible. It's like I'm paying not to have service. I see some people on the subway platform and they're chatting away on their phones and I look at my screen and it says No Service, it's so annoying. So I'm going with Verizon and (this is the exciting part) I got a Treo :-) I will now have internet access with me all the time! I can't wait until it comes in, it should be here next week sometime. I'm going to d/l my drug guide into it and then I can get rid of my handheld and carry less. I made Kelly get the same phone although he really has no use for it - I just wanted us to be twins...

Not much stitching has gone on, work, as always, has cut into my stitching time. I've also been playing Sims a lot too. I played all day yesterday. My sim just had another baby and her sim husband is working hard to get that next promotion to take care of the ever growing family so I've been busy. I have been itching to start something new. I don't know what it is about putting those first stitches on fabric that's so exciting...on my last stash shopping trip I bought fabric for a few pieces I want to stitch as well as a few new charts. One of the charts I kitted up while there since I've been eyeing it on someone else's blog (forget the blog so I can link it) and while at my not so LNS the Rosewood Manor trunkshow was there and the project was there framed so I couldn't resist! It's And a Forest Grew and it's HUGE! Well it's huge in my book, I'm pretty sure there are bigger out there.

Ok I'm off to eat lunch - I've been trying to lose weight and so far have managed to lose 8 lbs. I guess it really does matter whether you're eating in moderation and walk a little more. I want to start working out soon (I did for about 2 weeks then got sick) so the weight loss is actually a great push towards doing more.

Oh before I leave...I still have one more spot for my PIF if anyone is interested. I have the others in envelopes already I just have to stop procrastinating and mail them out. Just drop me an email if you're interested. And thanks to those who left me comments on my frame...I still haven't hung it up on the wall and really should do that soon. Okies TTYL!

A new WIP

I chose to stitch Bluebird Message by Blackbird Designs after finishing my heart. I like the red in this. After all this horrible weather it's nice to see something bright.
I finally got Spring Snapperland back from the framers - don't know how accurate this picture is but the frame sort of compliments the colors in the piece. I love it :-)

Other than my WIP and framed piece I have nothing else to share. I've been sick since Monday and was confined to my bed with a fever until Friday when I dragged myself to work. I'm still sick - I don't know if I can call what I have a cold since it feels a lot worse and I have a hard time breathing and feel dizzy sometimes. Anyway enough complaining I'm going back to stitching or maybe even to sleep...

Lots of pics and Pay It Forward!

Well believe it or not I had my post ready to go and then something happened and I lost it! *grrrr* I'm going to try this once more.
I have lots of pictures to show. I also signed up for
Jamie's pay it forward and already have my "pieces of art" made and ready to go sooooo if you'd like to sign up for my pay it forward then leave me a comment or go to my profile and email me all of your information. I know lots of people have done this already and I'm a bit late so I'm going to change my rules (if that's ok.)
If you sign up for my PIF don't worry about having to actually PIF - just do something nice for someone and that will be fine enough :-)
Ok now onto my pictures *hopefully* I don't screw up this time!

My heart is done! The above picture of my heart at another angle.
Now my heart's stats:
Candied Confections - The Cricket Collection
Stitched on 30ct Beach Plum R&R Reproduction Linen
Using all recommended threads

This is Kyle - today I asked him if anyone ever told him he was cute and he sort of looked at me like "all the time." LOL

These are my scissor fobs. I sort of went crazy one night and made these. I'm keeping 2 of them but the others are my PIFs.
And below are pictures of my fobs individually :)

Today I went to my first Machine Applique Class at the City Quilter. It was fun :-) My heart came out nice but then I tried a star and while that was going ok - the instructor gave me a very nice compliment and my head went HUGE and I got sloppy LOL so don't stare to hard at my star LOL.

Torture!

I'm thinking I must like to torture myself. I keep watching this commercial over and over and everytime I see it I just boo-hoo cry. As many times as I've seen it one would really think I'd be immune to it by now, but I'm not. I wish I could adopt - I remember when Kelly was looking for Kyle (well not Kyle but a Bull Terrier to adopt) we would go to the shelters and I would leave crying - I wish I could have brought some of the dogs homes with me - I hope I'm never in the situation where I couldn't care for Ana anymore or any of my future pets. Anyway...I'll blog more later on - I may have a finish and I made more fobs that I'd like to show. You can choose to watch the commercial but if you're anything like me either get a tissue or just don't watch it...

My New Heart

This is stitching up quick but I just had to show it before I'm done with it. This is the yummiest heart I've stitched so far, mainly because of the color of the fabric and thread - it's one of my favorite colors...PURPLE!! I don't have all the floss for it (Krienik #4 braids) but they're on order and hopefully will get here soon. Well here's the picture - ENJOY!
